Simple steps to find joy during challenging times.

  • Decide to look for reasons to feel good in any given moment.

  • Before going to sleep each night, tell yourself tomorrow is going to be a good day. Visualise how your day is going to look and feel.

  • When you wake up notice where your thoughts are and how you feel. Become more aware of where your thoughts wander. Now you can guide them into more positive expectations for the day. It can be as simple as looking forward to feeling the warmth of the sun on your face. In my case this morning, I was excited about a rainy day with hail and being cosy inside. If you can find one good feeling thought, you can find two and then three and so on.

  • Sit quietly for 15 – 20 minutes and focus on your breathing or any meditation you find helpful.
  • Grab yourself an exercise book and write a list of positive things in your life. Add to this list every morning.

  • Now you have set yourself up for a better day.

  • Spend at least 30 minutes outside every day.

  • Exercise 30 minutes every day.

Think about this moment right now and ask yourself, do I have any major problems in this moment. Sometimes it takes slowing down and being still to realise it’s all OK.

Be happy, leave a trail and ALWAYS SETTLE FOR MORE.
